Patriot Day – September 11

Today, we remember the heroes and the victims of the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001. Take time to honor the lives lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the crash of the United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.  Today, reflect on the importance of unity and the commitment to fight for freedom during times of adversity.

This United Nations Day encourages the world to call for nonviolence and a ceasefire. It promotes peace and harmony and a variety of events that promote tolerance and understanding are held throughout the world.

The International Day of Sign Languages celebrates sign languages as a vital part of linguistic and cultural diversity. This day highlights the importance of sign language in the full realization of the human rights of people who are deaf.
