Hindu Holidays

India is a growing player in global business and the world workforce. If you do business with India, or have employers or contractors there, August has some key events affecting work.

First, August 15 is India’s Independence Day.  Also there are two important Hindu festivals in August, Raksha Bandhan on August 18 followed by Janmashtami on Aug. 25th

Public Holidays on August 1

August 1 is a public holiday in many countries worldwide. In Canada, it’s Civic Day, a holiday in many key provinces. In Iceland, August 3 is Commerce Day.

These are just a few examples of events occurring in different parts of the world and for a few cultures and religious faiths during August. There are many more, just serving to complicate managing a multicultural workforce and global business in the 21st century. For a complete listing, please refer to our cultural diversity calendar.
