According to the Code of Canon Law of the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church recognizes nine holy days of obligation besides Sundays. However, bishops may suppress or transfer some to a Sunday. The feast of Saint Joseph and the feast of Saints Peter and Paul have been suppressed as holy days of obligation. Also, the feast of Epiphany is always celebrated on a Sunday. This leaves us with six holy days of obligation:
- Solemnity of Mary: January 1
- Ascension of Jesus: 40 days after Easter
- Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary: August 15
- All Saint’s Day: November 1
